Dutch bank statements for expats: ABN AMRO, ING and Rabobank
Landlords, the IND, mortgage advisers and your home tax office often ask for a bank statement. Dutch banks let you download one yourself. Menus are often in Dutch, so the Dutch names are given below in bold.
ABN AMRO bank statement
ABN AMRO has two kinds of overview:
- Rekeningafschriften (account statements): a PDF copy of your statement, up to 20 years back, with your address on it.
- Bij- en afschrijvingen (transactions): up to 18 months back, in several formats, including pdf and xls.
In the app:
- Go to Profiel → Rekeningen en betalen → Afschriften en jaaroverzicht.
- Choose the account holder, the type of overview and, if needed, the account.
- Pick a period or a start and end date.
- Tick the statement and tap Downloaden. Save the PDF.
In Internet Bankieren: open the statement download page, select the account holder, account and type of overview, tick the statement and click Downloaden.
Need a spreadsheet for the last 18 months? Choose Bij- en afschrijvingen and the xls format. You don't need a converter for that.
ING bank statement
ING lets you download statements for your current account (Betaalrekening) up to 10 years back, and for your savings account (Spaarrekening) up to 8 years back.
In Mijn ING:
- Log in and click Service → Overzichten en downloads.
- Click Af- en bijschrijvingen downloaden.
- Select the account and the period.
- Choose the file format. For a statement like the paper one, choose PDF met boeksaldo (PDF with balance).
- Click Downloaden.
In the ING App:
- Tap a current account, then Instellingen (the gear icon).
- Tap Afschriften downloaden.
- Enter a start and end date and choose a format, for example PDF met boeksaldo (datum aflopend).
- Tap Download, then share or print the PDF.
Want it in English? According to ING, switch the language of Mijn ING or the app to English first. Then download your current-account statement the same way.
Rabobank bank statement
In Rabo Online Bankieren (monthly statement for a current account):
- Go to Rekeningafschriften, via the "Download een rekeningafschrift" button on Rabobank's service page.
- Choose your current account, the year and the month.
- Open the PDF and save or print it.
A custom period: create a transactieoverzicht op maat (custom transaction overview). Choose your account, the download format and a date range, then click Downloaden. This goes up to 8 years back.
Business accounts: choose Afschrift betaalrekening downloaden → Rekeningafschriften, pick the account and period, and click the statement. It opens as a PDF. Statements in Documenten go back 7 years. Statements 9 years or older can't be downloaded or requested.
No online banking? Rabobank can post a paper copy, which arrives within 5 working days.
Turn the PDF into Excel
A PDF is fine as proof. It's useless for adding things up. Statement Converter by Lekasoft turns it into Excel (XLSX) or a Dutch-format CSV.
- You get every transaction in an editable table.
- A balance check compares the transactions with the balance on the statement, to the cent. For ING, pick PDF met boeksaldo.
- Your PDF is processed in memory and discarded. No account needed.
- Works with ING, Rabobank, ABN AMRO, bunq and Revolut (EUR accounts only).
Limits: one PDF at a time, up to 4 MB and 50 pages, with selectable text (no scans). Your first conversion is free, then buy a 10-pack for €9.

FAQ
Is a downloaded PDF an official bank statement?
It's the statement your bank provides. Whether a landlord or agency accepts it is up to them. Ask if they need a stamped or paper version.
Which ABN AMRO overview shows my address?
Both the account statement and the transaction overview show your address.
Can I get my Rabobank statement in English?
Yes, for new downloads. According to Rabobank, switch Rabo Online Bankieren (click EN at the top right before you log in) or the Rabo App (the three dots, then Switch to English) to English. Then go to Settings → Payment accounts → Download transactions. Statements from the past can't be downloaded in English.
Does the converter work with a scanned or photographed statement?
Not yet. It needs a PDF with selectable text, like the one you download from your bank.
